Curriculum Resources
I am currently working towards creating and collating quality units that support the teaching of Australian Curriculum as a resource for teachers. I hope to add to this collection over time.
I hope that this collection of resources is useful to others and will assist busy teachers in providing quality learning experiences for their students. If you use any of the resources I have created or collected, I would be grateful for a quick acknowledgement or constructive feedback so that these resources can be improved and revised.
While many of the units are my own work, or the work of a team that I was part of, I have included links to other quality resources that have been made available to others. I have endeavoured to give appropriate credit to others. If I have made an error in my attributions, please let me know so that I can fix this.
The black buttons link to websites I created or co-created, while the coloured buttons link to resources created by others.

General Curriculum Resources
This website was originally created as part of my role as Curriculum Support Teacher. It contains hundreds of links to useful resources, unit plans and professional readings that would support the teaching of the Australian Curriculum in a primary school. The website is now managed by teachers from Our Lady of the Rosary School. It might be a useful model for other schools wishing to collate information about teaching and learning at their own school.

Scootle is a valuable resource for teachers in Australia and is supported by the Australian Government Department of Education. It includes learning objects, unit plans, collections of images and videos, as well as links to outside sources of curriculum resources.
Australian Curriculum Lessons houses a collection of lessons, resources and ideas submitted by Australia teachers to support others in the implementation of the Australian Curriculum. This is a good example of online collaboration by teachers and provides a useful platform for sharing and connecting with others.

Technology in the Classroom
These posters were created for my classroom to support students beginning to use technology in a 1:1 environment. Some of them are troubleshooting strategies while others are for keyboard shortcuts.
These posters are specific to the Surface Pro 3. They show various gestures that can be used on this device and are useful for students at the beginning of the year in learning gestures and terminology specific to the Surface Pro 3.
The T.H.I.N.K. poster is popular on Pinterest and around the web. This version matches the fonts and colours I have used on other posters in my classroom.
The YAPPY poster was created as a reminder for students after engaging with Professor Garfield's Infinite Learning Lab. It reminds students about the types of personal information that they should be careful about sharing online.

This website is used to link to useful resources for supporting teachers in teaching the new Digital Technologies curriculum and also using DLT in their classrooms. It includes teacher support for various iPad apps, including ideas for use with students and links to reviews.

Year 2
Currently under construction, this unit addresses aspects of English, History and Science. The original units from which this is developed were taught in Term 4.
This page provides ideas for teaching about specific saints identified in the Year 2 Religion curriculum for Brisbane Catholic Education. These saints include St Francis and St Clare of Assisi, St Kevin of Glendalough and St Therese of
Lisieux. |
This History unit was developed and taught for the students in Year 2 at Kenmore. It has now been published by the Department of Veteran Affairs as part of the ANZAC Day centenary project. (Unfortunately, they misspelt my name and have not yet fixed this, but it is my unit)

This is my class blog from 2012. This was my most successful attempt at blogging with a class to date. This blog contains useful descriptions and images of many of the things we did in that year and might be useful inspiration for others teaching Year 2, or trying to blog with a class.

This resource was created to support an integrated Science, History and Geography inquiry using a story thread approach to uncover the story of a particular tree in the local neighbourhood. This particular website was used to introduce the students to online research skills in a suitable and age-appropriate manner. Information is organised logically and highly visual.

Year 3
This is a resource to support an historical inquiry of the local area. The local area in focus is what is now the northern part of Brisbane. There are many links to other web based resources and suggestions about where to go to find more information about local Indigenous culture and the history of the local area. Students are encouraged to look around their immediate local area for evidence that there were people living here long before them. I am keen to address Indigenous history sensitively and collaborated with a number of people during the creation of this resource. As it still has not been endorsed by an elder of the Turrbal people, some of this website is password protected.
This is an attempt to gather some resources to support a brief historical inquiry into the development of transport, particularly trains, in Queensland. The Ipswich Rail Museum and Cobb and Co Museum would both have more resources to support this inquiry.
This unit from English for the Australian Curriculum (E4AC) is a very well constructed English unit with strong links to the Science content for Year 3. It contains teacher notes, curriculum links and assessment rubrics.
Year 4
This website is my attempt to curate my own planning for an entire year into one place. It includes overviews of each term as well as links to unit plans and resources.
This is the webpage I created as a homepage for our students. Now that I am teaching in a 1:1 environment, I am experimenting with different systems for presenting information and resources to students. This website will continue to develop over the year.
This is an English unit designed to be taught in Term 1, but could be used at a different time in the year if preferred. It focuses on narrative texts, primarily from the mystery genre and the comprehension skill of inferring.
This is an inquiry unit that incorporates content and skills from both the Science and Geography curricula for Year 4. I initially developed the website myself and have been working collaboratively with teachers from across two schools to test and review the resource in order to create a website that might be useful to others. The front section of the website is designed for student access to guide the inquiry, but curriculum links and teacher notes are available to assist teachers in planning and implementing the unit.
This is another inquiry unit which address Science and Technology curriculum content and skills. This unit was originally taught using iPads. Students learn to create augmented reality using Aurasma and design and construct a model of a theme park ride.
This is an inquiry unit that explores skills and understandings from Geography and Science. Students learn about the connections between humans and the environment by learning about South America, and in particular, its rainforests. In Science, students learn how natural and human interactions can affect the earth's surface through erosion, landslides, earthquakes etc.
This is a well written English unit that integrates the content and skills of the Year 4 History curriculum. It is produced by English for the Australian Curriculum (E4AC).
This is another example of a teacher planning website, created by another Queensland teacher. It contains unit plans and links to useful resources.
